Senator Bob Kerrey is absolutely right. Most Muslims around the world appreciate Barack Obama's Muslim roots, African heritage, and Muslim-sounding name. Obama's platform of unification and outreach also appeals to many people around the world, not only Muslims. The fact that a person such as Barack Obama has been able to rise to these levels of American government speaks volumes about our country and its ideals, laws, people, and promise to the world. America is due for either an African-American or a female president. Whether it's President Obama or President Clinton, by virtue of what he or she is, this will signal an important shift in the United States of America today. Could we do any worse than what we've got now?

True enough. A candidate with a Hispanic name would have a similar appeal to Latin America, even if he couldn't speak a word of Spanish.
